"Prepare yourself for a change of events in your personal life"
The damage total was one pair of completely smashed glasses, a minor sprain of my right hand/wrist and a severe sprain (Level 3, they tell me) of my left ankle/foot. Oh yes, I got a cut on the bridge of my nose from my glasses, scraped my forehead and nose, and got a good size scrape on my upper lip as well. And I'm very upset with myself for doing this too.
I am starting to heal now. Still have an ankle brace and hand brace on and am still on crutches. But the swelling is going down and my face is almost back to normal. So I don't look so scary anymore. *grin* Next week I start physical therapy on the ankle/foot.
The worst part is that I still can't mange going up the stairs, so I'm living downstairs and sleeping on the living room couch. Which also means I can't get to the sewing room! I was "this close" to having two quilts ready to go to my long-armer. (Hi, Shari!) Double Rats! I could sew OK if I could get there, but no fabric cutting yet. So, no quilts off to be quilted yet, no more work on the quilts on the design wall and I'm not getting my 9 patches done for Barb's swap that I signed up for. *sigh* I know I'll get there eventually, I just hope I have something done in time for the quilt show in early October.
Can you tell I'm at the whining stage of recovery? I've been enjoying being the lady of leisure and reading my Kindle (I love it! And library books too!), but now I'm getting a little bored and antsy. I have a quilt that I'm embellishing with buttons. Tried that today, but am having trouble getting the button to stay put until I get enough stitches in to hold it in place while sitting in the chair with my foot elevated on a big pile of cushions. And the cats want to "help" too. So, more Kindle reading for awhile, I guess.
Stupid fortune cookie!
Yup. Blame it on the fortune cookie. Seriously, that really sucks! I hope you recover quickly! Have you read the Gwen Cooper book "Love Saves the Day." She wrote the book about Homer, the blind cat. As a cat owner, you will really enjoy it. And as long as you're stuck on the couch...
ReplyDeleteOw!! At least you don't mention any teeth knocked out. I have landed partially on my face twice in the last 10 years and both times the first thing I checked was my teeth (which is pretty silly because if I had knocked one out, I would have felt it happening).
ReplyDeleteOh I am so sorry to hear this…. I don't think I will ever open up another fortune cookie !
ReplyDeletemaybe by next week you can get up the stairs…
hope you feel better soon
Kathie
So frustrating! Hang in there and hope you have a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteOOH NO! Glad your getting better! It all sounds so painful! We always add the words "in bed" at the end of fortune cookies to liven them up. That even works here with the change in sleeping quarters. Maybe one of your home exercises will be stairs with your physical therapy, and you'll have a good reason to do it! It will be a happy day when you are up at the sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteWishes for a speedy recovery
ReplyDeleteThat is terrible! I hope you are feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry...feel better sooon!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your fall, and I'm glad that you are doing better. I know the feeling of wishing you could do something but can't. It means you are feeling better at least. Hope you can go upstairs soon!

Awe! Whine away, lady! Get well soon...and no more fortune cookies for you!!
ReplyDeletewhine away....I am a big fan of whining....!!
ReplyDeleteOuch! Ouch! Ouch! I think taking a nose dive deserves some major whining!! So glad to hear no teeth were involved, talk about whining!! I do hate it you can't reach your sewing space (mine is up the stairs too)! Maybe being "forced" to take a break from your quilts will make you soooo inspired when you're all healed up!!! I'll be thinking of you and wishing you a quick recovery!!
ReplyDeleteOh crud!!! Whining is OK - face plants are not on our bucket lists! Glad you are in the healing stage! The change in activities might do you good - you'll be all gung ho to care for your boring household chores when you are off those crutches.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to learn of your accident! Yuck! Glad you're well on the road to recovery though. I've been able to sew lately but haven't been able to face the computer much (too many migraines). Hope you're back to sewing again soon!
ReplyDeleteare you feeling better yet????
ReplyDeleteKathie

ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read you took such a bad fall. I have not been on my blog for so long so I did not get the info until tonight. Hope you are well onto your road to recovery. Dang that fortune cookie!
